How do I install Wnki on my computer?
Wnki is a set of programs which live on your server. You do not need to download Wnki onto your computer to use it.

How do I start Wnki? I can't find an Icon on my desktop?
Since Wnki is part of the server-side of things you would access Wnki through your browser.
  • To start go to your website.
  • i.e. (http://www.yourdomain.com/)
  • Now add in the extension "admin" to the address.
  • i.e. (http://www.yourdomain.com/admin/)
  • Press return and wait for Wnki Admin Center to popup.

It says "Not Found". What did I do wrong?
If (http://www.yourdomain.com/admin) is "Not Found" first make sure you didn't type in yourdomain.com and that you replace the word "yourdomain.com" with the name of your domain.

If that does not fix the situation then perhaps Wnki has not been installed on your website.

Or, perhaps there is a remaining step or two left in the inoculation process.

Speak to your Wnki representitive or your webmaster. Some is definitely wrong if you can't access the starting page.

Okay, I got to the starting page. Now What?
Right near the top of that page is "Click Here to Start". The next step would be to click on the "Click Here".

I looked every where on my harddrive for my saved changes I can't find them.
When you use Wnki you are editing and changing files directly on your website. None of the changes are saved onto your harddrive. If you'd like a copy of your website you can access the admin center do a backup then download the file backup.tar.gz -- tar is (t)ape (a)rchive (r)etrival and gz is a form of zip. Most good zip programs can unravel this strange file. Go to Newbie(dot)Org if you need help understanding tar and gz.

How come sometimes I can't seem my changes even though I know that I clicked the save button?
In our experience that is almost always a browser refresh issue. If you refresh you page in the browser you should see the new page changes.

I refreshed and I still can't see the changes!
We've had that same problem. In Netscape try holding down the shift key while clicking on refresh. In MSIE try getting a copy of Opera, Netscape, or calling Microsoft.

I held the @#@*(# shift key down and I STILL can't see the changes!!!!
Don't know what to say to this. It's happened to me, it's happened to others I know. I've gone in through telnet and ftp at these times to verify changes have been made. And they have been. But they are not refreshing. The only thing we've found to work at these times are taking our computers all the way down, getting a snack and starting again. Fortunately it doesn't happen often. We just included it in the FAQ so you shouldn't think you were going crazy when it happens to you.

What does Inoculate do?
Inoculate converts a standard page into a Gallery type page by hiding some markup code and template information inside the page. This template information is used during the add item process to organize the new information on the page.
