Safer edit IS the main editing mode in Wnki. It's not the only mode but it is by far the most used method. We call Safer edit "Safer" because it is safer. Safer than Advanced edit and much safer than raw editing with FTP. So why don't we call it "Safe" edit? Because there is no such thing. Anytime one is inside the guts of a webpage mucking about (adding, deleting, modifying and generally pushing things around) there are chances being taken. What if you go temporarily insane and devote yourself (with total abandon) to the delete key? All bets are off! However, if you are relatively cyber-house broken and can keep your fingers off the delete key long enough to enter text then you are in great shape. In case you were wondering the thing which makes "Safer" edit safer is the use of marking tags. Each "Safer" edit field is marked with the following tags:
The esd (enwrapped safer data) is marked on both sides by these tags. This tells the Wnki program which fields to extract and present to you during an edit. You may if you wish surround your data with such markers yourself during "Advanced" edit. |
