Decorating a website domain is very much like decorating a house. Some things you can do, some things you need to hire a consultant to do, some things require sub contractors, some things require tearing down a wall and rebuilding.
Often it is the easy do-it-yourself type of touches which can transform a house or website from drab to glorious.
Web decorators need their own information emagazines. Let's face it html builders and other type of sub-contractors have their own trade journals. It's hard work to learn and not everyone is cut out for it. Just like home design, you don't let the fact that you can lay the brick for your own fireplace keep you from planning out the interior design.
Just so, don't be stopped by some of the apparent difficulties in website design. First of all many of the difficulties are not apparent -- they are damn hard. The only reason we take that personally is that some geekoid web-wizard some where decided that the rest of us are morons if we can't build a website from scratch. You don't feel vocationally deficient if you can't build your own home from scratch. You shouldn't feel mentally deficient if you can't build your own website from scratch. It's an unreasonable expectation
It isn't unreasonable, however, to expect to be able to do your own minor website repair. And, you should definitely feel empowered to do much of your own design.
At least that is our goal with the Domain Decorator website. Admittedly some of the projects we address are not for the layman. Well, you should still have an overview. What better way to help supervise your web contractors and web sub-contractors.
